Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
The purpose of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is to encourage continued lifelong learning and professional growth.
CPD is generally an ongoing requirement within most health professions in New Zealand, to undertake education, maintain a current knowledge base and improve skills and knowledge. It can take a number of forms, from attending further massage training, doing self-directed informal learning and undertaking research, to participating in peer support and networking opportunities, engaging in mentoring or supervision, and using reflective practice.
MNZ is committed to CPD as a valuable tool to assist in maintaining and improving the competence of Massage Therapists, thereby enhancing the level of the profession and helping to safeguard the health and safety of members of the public who engage in massage therapy. CPD is a requirement of being a member of MNZ. The factsheet below provides information about these requirements for potential MNZ members.
